Safeguarding & Welfare at Brackley Gymnastics School
Sharni Hughes – Welfare Officer
I am the Welfare Officer at Brackley Gymnastics School, having been part of the club since January 2025. I bring over 14 years of experience working with children across a range of settings, including schools, nurseries, and supporting children with additional needs. Alongside my professional background, I am also a parent, which allows me to understand the club from both a welfare and family perspective.
I hold recognised childcare qualifications (Level 1 and Level 2) and maintain up-to-date safeguarding training. My role within the club is to help ensure that all members—particularly children—are supported within a safe, respectful, and positive environment.
I aim to be a visible and approachable presence within the club, building relationships with gymnasts and parents so that everyone feels comfortable speaking to me if they need support. Any concerns raised are handled with professionalism, confidentiality, and care, with a clear focus on the wellbeing of everyone involved.
Safeguarding is extremely important to me. I believe that every individual—child or adult—should feel safe, valued, and confident within the club environment. I am committed to helping create a space where children can not only develop in gymnastics, but also grow in confidence and overall wellbeing.
I am available to speak in person during club sessions where appropriate; however, there may be times when I am not physically present or when it is not suitable to discuss welfare matters during active sessions.
If you have any questions, concerns, or would like to speak to me, I am always happy to listen and support any member of the Brackley Gymnastics School community.
Please feel free to get in touch at any time.
